Guided Tours to the Great Kitchen at Windsor Castle

For a special day at Windsor Castle, add a guided tour to the Great Kitchen to your visit. The tour takes you to areas not normally open to the public and provides a fascinating insight into the behind-the-scenes life of the Castle.
The Great Kitchen was constructed during the reign of Edward III. It is the oldest, substantially unchanged and still working kitchen in the country.

Your guide will tell you about the elaborate dinners prepared for George IV and Queen Victoria, and the preparations for State Banquets today. As part of the tour, you will visit the State Entrance and enjoy its breathtaking views of the Long Walk.

The Great Kitchen tour lasts approximately 30 minutes and is available on selected dates until 3 October 2010. There is limited availability, with a maximum number of 30 places on each tour.

Tickets for the tour are available in advance or on the day to holders of valid Windsor Castle tickets only.

Visitors registered for 1-Year Pass complimentary re-admission and Advantage Card holders may purchase tickets for the Great Kitchen tour by telephone (020 7766 7304) or from the Castle’s Admission Centre.

Tickets for the Great Kitchen tour are timed.
Please arrive at Engine Court at least 15 minutes before your tour start time (as printed on your ticket).
Your guide will meet you at Engine Court.
We regret late-comers cannot be admitted.
If you have purchased a combined ticket and booked a 10:00 Great Kitchen tour, you should visit the State Apartments after your guided tour.
The tour is in English only.
The tour may not be suitable for young children.
