RawHinies Cycling Team Rides High Raising Additional $17,000 for Multiple Sclerosis

Published October 9th, 2009

The RawHinies Multiple Sclerosis Cycling Team continues to ride high in their fundraising efforts to benefit the Colorado Chapter of the National MS Society. Their 2nd Wine Tasting and Silent Auction held September 17th, 2009 at the Valley Country Club raised an additional $17,000 toward Freeing the World of Multiple Sclerosis.

The event created and directed by the RawHinies Fundraising Committee was appreciatively made possible by the generous donations of local event sponsors including: Odell & Associates, LLC, O’Brien Plastering Company, Jones Heartz Drywall Supply, J.Alexander’s Restaurant, Sagemark Consulting, Juice, Mercedes-Benz of Littleton, United Western Bank, Source Properties, WillisHRH, and Valley Country Club.

The Silent Auction featured over 100 silent auction items donated by local community businesses and individuals; and the Wine Tasting of over 30 wines was graciously hosted by Grapes Wine Market & Spirits and Happy Canyon Wine & Spirits.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society will use funds collected from this event to provide programs that address the needs of people living with MS and to support research for a cure. Because we can fight this disease by raising awareness and funds for research, we are now getting closer to the hour when no one will have to hear the words, “You have MS”.

“The Colorado Chapter of the MS Society is so fortunate to have the RawHinies Cycling Team as part of our Bike MS event” says Kristin Gibbs, VP of Developement.”Their dedication, loyalty and philanthropic spirit are contagious. We are proud to call them our Top Team for 2009!”

For the last two years, the RawHinies MS Cycling Team was the #1 fundraising team for the Colorado Chapter of the National MS Society, raising over $212,000 in 2009 alone. The team, celebrating its 6th anniversary, has raised in excess of $655,000 and has grown from 16 cyclists in 2003 to the 135 RawHinies cyclists who participated in the 2009 Bike MS Ride: 3,000 cyclists, hundreds of volunteers, 150 miles over the course of 2 days.

The RawHinies MS Bike team is a community of people dedicated to the issues that surround Multiple Sclerosis. We are comprised of friends and family, all of whom are focused on raising awareness and funds for research with the hope of finding a cure. www.rawhinies.com
