Damien Wayans and Connie Britton to Host African Children’s Choir Benefit Gala in New York!

Damien Wayans (“My Wife & Kids”, Dance Flick) and Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights) have confirmed that they will co-host the first New York City fundraising event for the African Children’s Choir!

The gala will be at 583 Park Avenue, one of New York’s most glamorous venues, and will feature live performances by the African Children’s Choir(TM) and other special musical guests. This must-attend event will also include a cocktail reception, live auction, raffle and dancing.

Proceeds from the gala will support the new African Children’s Choir Primary School, a 12-acre campus on the shores of Lake Victoria in Entebbe, Uganda.

The African Children’s Choir(TM) has been working with the most vulnerable children in Africa for 25 years, raising awareness of the plight of the orphaned and abandoned, but also showing the beauty, dignity and potential of each African child. With a focus on education, the African Children’s Choir(TM) and its parent organization Music for Life, are currently caring for several thousand underprivileged children throughout Africa.

Since 1984 the African Children’s Choir(TM) has performed with and for such iconic stars as Queen Elizabeth II, Sir Paul McCartney, Queen, Wyclef Jean, Mariah Carey and Bono, with special performances at The White House, Live8 in London, the United Nations “Somalia Cry’ exhibit in New York, and Nelson Mandela’s 46664 Concert. The African Children’s Choir(TM) has appeared on almost every major television network on such shows as Good Morning America, American Idol – Idol Gives Back, and the Season 6 Finale, The Ellen Show, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Choir children were also featured with John Legend in The Gap’s high profile (RED) campaign.
