New York City, Connecticut and South Carolina Join the Aidmatrix Network® for Disaster Relief
Published July 26th, 2008
DALLAS, TX - The Aidmatrix Foundation, Inc. today announced new partnerships with New York City and the States of Connecticut and South Carolina. These governments joined the Aidmatrix Network® – a national disaster relief coordination system funded by FEMA, UPS, Accenture, and Aidmatrix Foundation, Inc. to better manage unsolicited donations and volunteers. It connects State and local governments with donors, State Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOADs), National VOAD, and FEMA through web-based tools that reduce paperwork and allow for easy information sharing.
Each government will have a web portal on the Network which can be used during times of disaster or for general humanitarian aid. The portal includes tools for in-kind donations management, volunteer management, warehouse management, and financial donations referrals management. The end result is that the State/City can better support to its VOAD partners to serve its citizens in need.
“Joining the Aidmatrix Network is just one more step in our disaster preparedness planning,” stated Paul Gibb, Donations Coordinator for the State of Connecticut. “Knowing that many of our neighbors along the Eastern seaboard are also members helps show the commitment already invested in making this system work. If a disaster were to hit any of our States, this is just one more way that we can more easily support one another.”
Members of the Aidmatrix Network can easily share information and support one another with resources, staff, and more. During the recent wildfires in California, several member states provided staff to assist in the recovery efforts. All of the donations are captured electronically, making them instantly accessible. The biggest benefit however, is the ability to link-up and communicate easily between the donors and nonprofits. It replaces the former paper-based forms that often delayed the relief process.
The Aidmatrix Network now covers more than 50% of the US population. Its members are helping revolutionize the way in which humanitarian relief is processed. It is streamlining relief efforts with technology and relationships just like the supply chains used within the for-profit world. The solution suite includes management modules for: In-Kind Donations, Volunteers, Warehouse, and Financial Referrals.
