Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers Launch Ticket Auction Summer Tour to Support Habitat for Humanity Affiliates
Published July 9th, 2008
WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif - TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS today announced an effort to raise money that will help support Habitat for Humanity affiliates in areas affected by the Midwest floods by creating an online ticket auction for their summer tour. The band has offered up front row and other premium seats in each tour city for the remainder of the tour to be auctioned off for Habitat for Humanity. All proceeds from the auction, including face value of the tickets and any associated fees, will be donated to Habitat. The auctions will require an opening bid of $1000 for a pair of tickets. Fans can learn more at http://www.tompetty.com or place bids at http://www.ticketmaster.com/tompettyandtheheartbreakers. All money raised will go to Habitat for Humanity, an organization dedicated to helping low-income families obtain simple, decent and affordable housing.
Following their Super Bowl XLII Halftime Show Performance, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have been on tour since May throughout the United States and Canada. The tour includes many shows in the Midwest and the band wants to give back to this region and do something to help.
“Ticketmaster is proud to be working with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Habitat for Humanity by donating its auction services toward this important effort,” said David Marcus, senior vice president of Music for Ticketmaster.
