Published June 5th, 2008
CHICAGO – SteelSeries, the leading manufacturer of innovative professional gaming gear, today announced a massive auction on eBay.com (U.S.) and wuji.org. The auction will support disaster relief in China and all proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) for the survivors and families affected by the recent earthquake. Through its professional gamer following and industry-leading products, SteelSeries is creating one of the largest charity collections with professional gamers ever, with dozens of gaming products, each autographed by some of the world’s top PC gaming teams such as MeetYourMakers, SK Gaming, Made in Brazil, Gravitas Gaming, TEK9, level99, Excello and mousesports.
Products up for auction include the new SteelSeries Ikari Laser Mouse, SteelSeries 5H v2 USB headsets, SteelSeries Siberia Neckband headsets and a wide variety of SteelSeries gaming surfaces. All money raised from the auction will be donated to RCSC, who has the established infrastructure to render direct and immediate disaster relief to the earthquake victims in China. The RCSC is the only national Red Cross society in the People’s Republic of China and is a humanitarian social relief organization.
SK Gaming, one of the world’s premier sites for eSports coverage, is hosting a dedicated page that will be updated as new auctions are introduced throughout the month. This page can be reached at: http://www.sk-gaming.com/content/17287-SteelSeries_512_Charity.
“To be able to provide assistance to those in need at such a critical time is truly an honor,” said Manuel “Grubby” Schenkhuizen, WarCraft III player for MeetYourMakers. “Generating the support of the world’s top gamers by partnering with SteelSeries shows how this community can quickly help our neighbors in the world and help bring hope back to this region.”
“The devastation of the recent earthquakes has had rippling effects around the world,” said Bruce Hawver, CEO of SteelSeries. “The gaming community has been proactively trying to raise awareness for donations and other relief efforts from the beginning, so we wanted to help try and take those efforts to the next level to speed relief to where they need it most.”
