Islamabad- Muslim Aid UK Pakistan field office is pledged medicines, water purification tablets and infants clothes in the meeting with Myanmar Ambassador H.E U. Tin. Oo in Myanmar Embassy in Islamabad

Muslim Aid Country Director and Muslim Aid South East Asia Manager met Myanmar Ambassador H.E U. Tin. Oo in Myanmar Embassy in Islamabad. H.E Ambassador thanked Muslim Aid for its relief efforts being done on ground. He honoured the generosity help of Muslim Aid in the recent cyclone which estimates till now are that more then 2.5 million people have been severely affected by the cyclone, which left more than 100,000 to 130,000 people dead or missing and entire villages submerged in the Irrawaddy delta.

Muslim Aid Country Director briefed H.E Myanmar Ambassador about the relief activities of Muslim Aid team is doing in Myanmar which include The team from Sri Lanka carried with them 13 boxes of aqua tabs (each box has 5,000 litre capacity totalling 65,000 litres treatment) and 2 trekker water purification systems. 250 families have been given food by our local partners and priority is being given to training local partners on water purification systems. The Muslim Aid team on the ground in Rangoon has been attending UN coordination meetings.

Myanmar Ambassador H.E U. Tin. Oo appealed for relief goods like blankets, medicines and infants clothes and told Muslim Aid team that assessments of damages are not completed yet and its in process. H.E informed that the infrastructure is poorly damaged. (Ends)
