Nations Largest Real Estate Auction Firm Selects Two of Sarasotas Fastest Growing Realty Firms as its Strategic Sarasota, FL Partners; Will Offer Area Properties at Auction

SARASOTA, Fla. and CHICAGO, Feb. 19 - Amid challenging national and Florida real estate markets, Sheldon Good & Company (http://www.sheldongood.com), the nation’s largest real estate auction firm, today announced that it has selected Prudential Palms Realty and Rooks Morris Real Estate, two of Sarasota’s fastest growing realty firms, as its strategic partners in the greater Sarasota-Bradenton-Manatee County areas. The two Sarasota firms have a combined total of nearly 300 agents located in nine offices.

The formal strategic alliance permits the two Sarasota firms to offer their clients’ properties at Sheldon Good & Company real estate auctions.

“Now that we have joined forces with this premier Chicago-based company, our residential and commercial sellers can take advantage of its innovative and professional real estate auction services,” said Helen V. Sosso, CEO of Prudential Palms Realty (http://www.prudentialpalmsrealty.com) and 2008 president of the Sarasota Association of REALTORS(R). “They are simply the finest in their industry.”

The Chicago-based company has sold more than 40,000 U.S. and international properties in the U.S., the Caribbean, Central and South America, Canada and Western Europe and has produced more than $9 billion in sales.

Some of the Florida properties it has sold at auction include: — The Paul Rudolph-designed Umbrella House on Lido Key island off Sarasota (”one of the five most remarkable houses from the mid-20th century” — “Architectural Digest/France”); — The remaining 88 condominiums in Trump Plaza of the Palm Beaches, which sold for more than $19 million; — Five Art Deco, Ocean Avenue hotels in Miami’s South Beach; — More than 280,000 square feet of fully-leased office and warehouse buildings, plus an Orlando area “trophy” home, all owned by developer Roger Kellogg; and — 10,000 acres of timberland owned by publicly-traded timber companies, including Rayonier Inc.

“We jumped at the chance to partner with the Chicago-based company and to offer our clients’ properties at their real estate auctions,” said Lisa R. Morris, an owner and principal at Rooks Morris Real Estate (http://www.rooksmorris.com). “Our clients have been asking about real estate auction opportunities and now we can offer them the best. The steps the Chicago-based firm follows to generate maximum market awareness of properties slated for auction have become the industry benchmark and have resulted in a near-100 percent closing rate.”

“Real estate auctions decisively establish the market value of properties, particularly in a volatile marketplace,” said Steven L. Good, chairman and CEO of the Chicago-based company as well as the 2008 vice chairman of the National Association of REALTORS(R)’ (NAR) Commercial Investment Division (REALTORS(R)’ Commercial Alliance) and a former chairman of NAR’s Auction Forum.

Florida sellers can take advantage of the Chicago-based company’s ability to sell, finance, guarantee or buy more than 100 asset classes of real estate. “Our new partnership with DJM Realty, LLC, the leading national real estate disposition firm, now provides us with ready access to capital to accomplish a variety of goals which fit the changing needs of our clients,” added Good. “No one else in the real estate auction industry currently has these capabilities.”

“Now is an opportune time for most Sarasota sellers and buyers to benefit from Sheldon Good & Company real estate auctions,” Sosso added. “Prudential Palms and Rooks Morris sellers can move their properties quickly and buyers can purchase them at discounted prices. While the NAR reported that the Sarasota housing market is improving — unlike other Florida real estate markets — an oversupply of properties at all price levels must still be absorbed and well-executed real estate auctions offer the ideal solution.”

Earlier this month, the Chicago-based firm announced a strategic alliance with Miami-based Keyes Company, consistently ranked among the “Top 100″ real estate companies in the country.
