Highlights of the sale included a wonderful ca 1690 English ivory and silver pique cane that achieved $7000. A great ca 1730 Saint-Cloud blue and white porcelain fetched $4704, a superb Tiffany silver with jade cabochon made $2567, a stunning vermeil silver with jewels brought $2464 and both a carved all-whalebone and a French Samson porcelain lady attained $2352. A Japanese ivory with shibayama insects fetched $2296 while an ivory man with a shibayamma fly on his forehead and a beautiful Russian silver with champleve enamel both made $2240. A fine Toledo damascene cane brought $2128 while an ivory circus elephant on a ball hammered down at $2072. Of the sixteen canes offered, all but three sold and the two-day event achieved 115 bids and grossed $35,784.00. All prices quoted included a 12% buyer’s premium.
