Kimberly Spears, executive director of the Anderson County Arts Center, expects a black tie gala Saturday night will generate more than $100,000 for the center.
“We’re probably close to 500 tickets sold,” she said about the center’s 25th annual Arts Auction.
Attendees dressed in tuxedos and ball gowns strolled through a reception area filled with black, white and silver balloons before entering halls filled with mirrors, art displays, sparkling glass and tables covered in black linens.
Patrons of the arts could bid at the Civic Center of Anderson on various products, services and pieces of art during a silent auction. Items for purchase included: a blue and white metal purse emblazoned with a Palmetto and crescent moon symbolizing South Carolina; a trip with Paul Brown on his Harley Davidson motorcycle before a dinner for two; a wine tasting in the Anderson home of Tom and Pam Roose; a folding poker table; and a fishing trip with David Hamby.
Later in the evening, 25 members of the community wore hats to celebrate the art auctions 25 years, each hat commemorating the parties theme for that particular year.
As a finale, a live auction provided attendees the opportunity to bid on more expensive items.
